In 1829, Sir Robert Peel’s “Nine Principles of Policing” were developed and provided to all officers of England’s Metropolitan Police Force.1 Police agencies in the United States have been gaining knowledge and adopting British policing models and strategies ever since. Highlighted in this document are examples of how three Smart Policing Initiative (SPI) sites are using a variety of United Kingdom (UK) models in their efforts.
