The level of trust by community members in their police departments is important in determining police legitimacy and the relationships between police officers and their community. PERF invited member chiefs and community members from their cities to participate in a one-day meeting to collect advice and guidance on building trust among communities. This report contains the guidance from these chiefs and community members, including direct quotations and summaries of key observations made and strategies required.
